ISSUE<\/span><\/strong>:<\/p>\n

Upgrade to iLO4 2.4.0 (SPP 2016040), found\u00a0 The server was failed to boot ESX from SD Card.\u00a0\u00a0 The same issue existed in iLO4 2.4.4<\/p>\n

Root Cause:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

iLO4 2.4.x will damage the partition table of SD Card\/USB Flash\uff0cNot Clear it is damaged during the executing phase or stopping phase<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Solution :<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Rollback iLO4 to 2.3.0 (SPP 2015100)<\/strong>
\nCreate USB Key of SPP 2015100 <\/em><\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Boot with the USB<\/em><\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Downgrade the iLO4 firmware with interactive method<\/em><\/span>
\n Reformat the SD Card\/USB Flash<\/strong>
\nRetrieve the SD Card from server<\/em><\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Format it into empty status in PC \uff08Linux\uff09<\/em><\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Delete the partition table<\/em><\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Create DOS partition table<\/em><\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Create a DOS partition (0x0b)<\/em><\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0 Format the DOS partition<\/em><\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0 Insert the empty SD Card into Gen8<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Reinstall ESX into SD Card<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0Format the SD Card with FAT32<\/em><\/span><\/pre>\n
\u00a0\u00a0 Power outage of the server<\/em><\/span>\r\n\u00a0\u00a0 Lauch iOL remote console<\/em><\/span>\r\n \u00a0 Insert CD of\u00a0 ESX iso image file<\/em><\/span>\r\n \u00a0 Reboot with CD to install ESX<\/em><\/span><\/pre>\n
